Nothings ever "sure", but we're pretty set. The base here is hiring at least 400 engineers this year. This is due to retirements, new work coming in here from recent shuffling of work from BRAC etc etc. Growth opportunity is there.., though there's opportunity to move around here if you're not happy with the job you initially start with. Classes for an MBA would most likely be paid for if you get a B or better (Have a few people I know that are doing it...and some others getting engineering Masters.).Not sure what you make currently... they'd take into consideration what you make now and guidelines they have. They paid for my move out here from MN and paid me more than I was making there even after cost of living.

I'm also in the defense industry, and my company can't hire enough engineers. (Sorry Jenn, it's all electrical/software.) Given the number of people who are going to be retiring soon, I don't see there being a shortage of open engineering jobs even if the defense budget gets cut some.

As for pay, I (and many of my co-workers) make $10-15K below market value for the South Bay. And I hate my company. I make enough to live on and support a few hobbies, and I have a very tightly allocated budget.

The reason I make more than the people I date is because I choose to use men for their bodies instead of their minds, so I don't date the college educated ones. Therefore, they don't make as much money as me. I don't have the problem with it, they do. Eh. Bums, probably. But usually they're nice to look at and I'm not in it for much more than that.
