I have an 05 600RR with a headlight issue. Currently neither my running low beam or high beam will come on. The low beam light will not come on once I turn on the battery, the only light that will come on is the center running light. This happened over night, when I parked my bike both lights were working just fine. I checked the bulbs and they were fine. I checked the fuse and it was fine. I put a multi-meter to the headlight fuse socket and I am getting power to the fuse socket. However when I put the multi-meter to the bulb socket, neither one is getting power. I am not very versed with Motorcycles or cars, I am a helicopter mechanic by trade. I figure it must be a problem with my wire harness somewhere between the bulb sockets and the fuse box, or maybe the light switch on the left grip?? If anybody could shoot some knowledge my way I'd be much obliged. Thanks!

how's the continuity on the harness itself? using your meter

Hey sync, sorry about your headlight issue. my first thought as i was reading was gonna be the fuse for sure, but seeing as that its fine I think your TS is right on track. A&P here too, good call going right to the bulbs and checking voltage. Now, what I think would be your best plan of attack would be this: take off the upper L/H cover (under the grip) and get access to the gray and blue connectors. get a hold of a wiring diagram (heres a link, but im at work so i cant follow it threw to make sure its a good one, http://www.pdfoo.com/honda/132-3520-pdf.html . I know the 2003-2004 manual is out there on the internet in PDF. Ive used it to do some electrical on my bike too and is almost identical to the 2005-2006 electrical sys) I would find the right pins to shoot to the switch and look for continuity threw to the bulb socket to isolate down the switch. Im sure its a common ground for almost all the items that go to the instrument cluster but its always an option too. I really dont think there should be too many more items in the system but im sure with the wiring diagram youl get a good scope of it. If you cant find the PDF let me know. Ill go ahead and crack open my MM when i get home. Im 100% sure that the helo is way more complicated than these little cbr's!
heres another link i cant verify http://www.stephygee.com/2006600RR.zip

synchrorhythm1, one really quick question just to confirm. Your headlight has this problem before or after you start the bike?

To Cookiebug79: The headlights will not come on with the bike off or on. It's wierd, you know how usually when you turn the ignition to "on" the lights pop up, but nothing. Tried starting it anyways and still nothing.
To AdvSac: You'd think I'd be able to work on bikes, but I am totally brain dead to this stuff! I started messing around with the gray and blue connectors and checking all the sockets for power and so far so good. I still have a little bit more to check but the skeeters started to tear my ass up!
To Jotaro: The continuity was good when I checked it, can't remember exactly what it was reading when I checked it but remember it being good. Maybe it wasn't though, what is the normal limits for the harness?
Thanks for your replies, I tried searching through all the forums looking for answers but most of the threads are about HID kits and such. I appreciate your time!

I'm not sure if your bike is like this or not, but on my bike, the headlights don't come on just by putting the key in the "on" position. The gage cluster lights up, but the headlight won't come on until the bike is actually started.
However, if you tried starting it and you're still having issues, then it's unfortunately not that simple.

Sounds like you are the right track for troubleshooting. I would get hold of the schematic and start tracing +V points from fuse towards light. Also, make sure and verify continuity on the ground side of the lights to battery ground. The only reason I say this is because you mention no high OR low beam and with the high going a different route (i.e., through switch) its one thing that is likely common between the two circuits.
