I dropped my bike on the left side (pulled into garage, put kickstand down, started walking away and BAMM!!:doh I guess the kickstand wasn't all the way down. What a noob huh?) and since then I've noticed a grinding sound coming from the front when I roll. I can't remember if it was there before I dropped the bike. Is this a normal sound? What should I do

If it rubs just lightly then that's typical, as far as I know.

Can you quantify the grinding sound? Is it continuous when you roll? Or is it only once or twice every tire revolution? Do you hear it from the side that the bike fell on to, the other side, or just the whole front end in general? Do your brakes feel any different? Do they wobble or do your handles shake when you brake?

I'm going to guess it's ok, unless you can feel a problem...

I dropped my R6 like that once, fortunately there was a wall there to catch it.

Unless there was something that impacted the brake I wouldn't worry about. Go for a slow ride and hit the brakes a few times and everything should seat itself properly.

Grinding sound is normal for CBR front brakes when rolling. Irritating, but normal in my experience.

my 07 does it as does the 08 but not all the time and it's only slight so I never worry about it

Remove the springs that keep tension on the brake pads and BAM grinding gone.

Those springs are fo' suckas!

Any reason why the springs are there and if removing them will create any long term problems?

They're 'anti rattle' springs. I have not seen any problems with removing them... well i guess your pads could rattle lol. Although I would say unlikely if your rotors are true.

Removing them has only been advantageous on my bike, and in more ways than one.
