Ok folks, here's the jist of the situation. I purchased a set of Corsa III's for my 04. Now it's time to mount them. I can pay $30.00 per wheel, at the place I purchased the tires, but they can't pull the rims, in a strip center. I called my Honda dealership. they want $140.00, to do everything. I think that's insane. I've been reading threads about wheel alignment and fishin line and duct tape and BEER. Only one of those I'm a pro at.....So I called the great guys where I purchased the tires. The guy said don't worry about the front at all and just measure off of the swingarm on the rear? What the hell am i suppose to do?

This is something new to me, I've never heard of wheel alignment on a bike.

Well there's hash marks on your subframe to let you know that the wheels are straight.

I had my wheels laser aligned w/ Dave at Chassis Dynamics before he left. My swing arm cast marks were off by a mark. So I just use that as reference points when change my wheels.

There was an article in I think Sport Rider a while back in regards to this. I'll see if I can find the issue.

It pretty much said to use some string or fishing line. Have your bike on stands and make sure your front wheel is straight. Then take the line to the rear wheel and mark on the string/line when it hits the rear tire. Compare it to the other side. And if it it's frame/pegs first, then you know it's off. Not an exact science but cheaper then the laser alignment tool.

What makes you think you need to "align" it? Unless you know that the marks are off on the swingarm, or you can see that the chain is curving, I really wouldn't worry about it. Usually the only people that worry about alignment are racers, very serious racers.

Line up the marks on either side of the swingarm and call it a day. If you're not familiar with the marks?... they are the lil marks stamped in the side of the swingarm behind the axle.

Unless you're talking about "mounting and balancing" your wheels, that's a different story. lol Sounds to me like you're talking about 2 different things here.

I tried the fishing line thing once - spent hours analyzing my setup and figuring out whether it was actually telling me what the alignment was. In the end I gave up and used the marks. Too many ways to fuck up the fishing line trick. Thx for the info AD..will try that stuff.

If you're going to use fishing line, string or whatever, it's easy just run it down the length of the chain to make sure it isn't curved.

Yea I called a few shops and they say some Honda Dealerships are rolling out a new machine, and need to pay for it.....with my money. Found a guy who charges reasonable rates, without the laser alignment. Thanks for the input guys...I laughed when the guys said $130.00 and then asked "Well how ya gonna align it?"

Now you know.

And knowing is half the battle.

Found a guy who charges reasonable rates, without the laser alignment.

For what? To put the wheels back on your bike?

I mean wtf are you guys talking about here... is this some kind of code lol

Sorry, I assumed you wanted help, guess you were just looking for some place in Texas.
