I have a brand new 2008 CBR600RR and when it is windy and going around 50mph to 60mph and let go of the handlebar and the bike is decelerating, my handlebar wobble or wiggle very slightly back and forth. When I am behind a truck or something to block the wind, my handlebar does not wiggle at all. I been told that a loose steering stem and not bad tire will cause issues like this. I don't know if any of you experienced the same problem but not having a jack, I cannot determine if my front end is loose. Anyone here also experience the same? Maybe it is just the fat tires that make it more prone to headshake, don't know.

it's your body (parachute effect)...happens to me all the time when riding the choppa or supermoto since im sitting in a more upright position which my upper torso becomes a sail and my lower extremities is closely attached to bike like a sailmast.

Hey Jikser, actually I found the problem that was causing this. I found out that my rebound settings, dampener, preload, they were all a off and not set evenly. Once I adjusted them making sure it was perfectly symetrical, no matter how much headwind, no matter how much crosswind, my bike bar did not wobble side to side. It was the preload setting causing this the entire time.

The comment about how it doesn't happen kind of threw me off, so I was thinking of the same as Jikser. I'm glad it's resolved though. :D :thumb

actually my bike did it again but only on certain roads. At night I don't get any shimmy. I guess when there is little headwind, my bike does not shake its head. When it is windy then I get a slight headshake where bars vibrate. I wonder if any of you also experience the same.

actually I found out what causes front end to wobble. The air pressure was 8 pounds low on air. Once I filled it up it was no longer wobbling. I went to several dealers and sadly none of the techs knew what was causing it. just goes to show how motorcycle mechanics are far behind auto mechanics in terms of knowledge

Serious? Generally if it's too low then turning the bike is a lot slower. What tires & PSI?
