I bought an '03 600rr when they were first released. I loved my bike, but i sold it in '05 to go to school. I've had the bug really bad lately for a new bike. Im just curious, but for those of you who when directly from an 03-06 to a 07-08, how much of a difference? what stood out?

I don't own an 07-08, but rode a friend really quick. It's about 20lbs lighter, easier to manuver at low speed. I didn't get a chance to ride it at high speed so I can't tell you.

Yep. Binned the 05. Picked up an 07. Few minor changes. Lighter, more mid-range. steering damper helps out on the track when you are launching out of corners.

This one also doesn't feel as heavy up front. When I'm taking high speed corners the front doesn't want to push as much at 120+ like the 05 did.

Mid-range helps for commuting but this baby really loves to live at the rev-limiter. Heck if she's below 10 grand she gets upset.

Maintenance wise, smaller engine, uses around a half a quart to a quart less of oil, easier to work on.

The bad:

I dunno.. costs more, fuel mileage got worse, sounds like a cct issue at 9grand. Its lighter so it is a little more twitchy. Anything short of racetrack speeds and you have to be sensitive to the throttle and handling.

No slipper clutch. I'm still hopping and sliding the rear when I'm hard on the brakes.

Oh yea, you don't get a tool kit with 07-08.

I ran into this with RanchoRider's bike. I thought he was joking...
