Which brand do you prefer to own and why?
I have 3 HJC's, crash tested 1 of them. Although the protection is good, but it's heavy and noisy. I'm thinking of upgrading, but not sure which brand. :confused

I have/had a...
Arai RX-7 Corsair
Suomy Spec 1R Extreme
Shoei RF-1000
AGV Ti Tech
Out of all those, the Arai fits my mellon head the best. Just try on a bunch and see which one fits the best.

Yeah, I've tried Stef's (quietlilsis) Arai a few years back. It fits me pretty well. I'll try the Shoei next. They seem to be a bit more affordable, given that the RF-1000 model passes both DOT and SNELL tests.

best fit for my melon is suomy and arai, i also have a scorpion helmet... suomy is,IMO, better overall -- fit and weight and design...

I have a couple of Shoeis and they fit me well - im kind of narrow head and wear a small though. I used a friend's Arai GT(-R i think) for a while before getting the shoei's and was not impressed by it - quality was horrible with glued pieces falling off and a shield system that is a nightmare to swap out.
The Shoei shield system is about as easy as it gets and they are interchangeable across a wide range of models (I have a TZ-R and RF1000, and I believe the shields may fit X-11 as well).
Its all about fit, though...the nice thing about Shoei's and Arai's and maybe some other manufacturers is that they use 5 mold sizes for the outershell whereas some only have 3...the outer shell is closer to my head size so i don't look like a spaceman.
Shoei's seem to fog up a bit more than others so I've heard, but I love my helmets and have had zero problems with them.

I had a Suomy and I liked it...it was an older style and bit noisy and heavy. I bought a Shoei RF-1000 and liked it....like it so much after I "tested" it that I bought another Shoei.

Im on my third helmet which is a Suomy Spec 1R, before, I had a HJC CL14 and a Icon one. the HJC and Icon are super shitty and will never go back there. I picked up my Suomy for about 360. What I hear is that if you got a longer melon front to back then the suomy is a better fit than an arai, but thats just what i hear. The suomy does run small, so for my medium-ish head i got a large and it fits perfect. Hey, If you know for damn sure what your size is gonna be i might be able to work the ropes and get you one for somewhere around 360, the catch is that you have to buy me a 6ixer of guiness stout. It would be the Suomy Spec 1R, I would end up getting it from these peoples http://www.vleonline.com/ . Threw a friend that gets items at dealer cost. But the catch is that it would really have to be no BS on your part, because there would be money in the air, and we wouldnt know what the final numbers are till we have the helmet in hand.

i've had 2 arai's
quantum F was the first one and it lasted me a good 4 years, i'd say...
my current is the Corsair - i've got a really small noggin, so the helmet is an extra small and they put thicker padding in it to accomodate.
i really don't like the process for changing out the visors... it is painful.
i don't think i'd buy any other brand besides Arai or maybe Shoei

I'd like to try an Arai but yeah I hear the visor change is a bitch

Hmm, one more reason to pick Shoei. I used to wear dark visor all the time and was still able to see at night just fine. But, I only ride on the track so changing visors shouldn't be an issue since I only have to do it once.

I have 3 shoeis (2 X-11s and an RF-1000) and an Arai rx-7 corsair.
I love both brands, but shoei has the best fit for my head.

Shoeis are great. My X-11 saved my life. My current helmet is a Arai corsair. Since I have a round head so the Arai actually fit me better. Arai's visor is pain in the ass to change though.

I have an Arai profile (size L, glossy black) that I'd like to sell if anyone's interested. I wore it twice and I don't like the way it fits. I prefer HJC, it's the only brand that's comfortable on my head.

Arai's aren't that bad to change. You get used to it.
Don't fear the Reaper.

Yeah, but I don't like the visor or the venting either. Wearing it just pisses me off, so I'd rather sell it and get the HJC one that I want.
I've had Arai , Shoei ,KBC and many others
my favorite so far Scorpion
fits good ,keeps your head cool and the visor NEVER fogs up

The Arai RX-7 Corsair fits me the best. I'm quite happy with it.

ARAI RX7 Corsair..fits me well, but a lot of wind noise. RF1000 is my second choice, altho the shell is quite big. I have 8 HJC carbons as well (Dirt and Street)...fits good, but not my type.
