Anyone try doing their own plastic welding using one of these kits? I'm getting bids to repair the plastics on my project bike, but looking to do as much work myself and save some money, and wondering how difficult it might be.

Also looking for a local plastic welder to get bids on the work, if anyone has used one.

I've never used it, but have molded my own fiberglass fairings before. Given that the one I made wasn't perfect, but it served its purpose. Anywho, it shouldn't be that bad if you have at least an idea of what to do.

This is a rebuild job for an old Honda - it doesn't have to be perfect, and I'm thinking about giving it a try. I've worked with plastic before and pretty much once you get the stuf flowing it can be shaped/molded into what you need...as long as you don't go too hot with the air.

You may be able to fix those with simple fiberglass cloth and resin. I've fixed a lot of stuff like that before with wire-mesh reinforcement on the inside. It's a quick fix if you don't want to buy the welder.
