I'm sure this has been discussed elsewhere, but I can't find where it might be, so I'll just ask anyway. I have an '01 600 f4i and was thinking about getting an after market slip on exhaust, but I'm not sure if it is worth the money. I've heard that some after-market exhausts can actually lower your horsepower, and I really don't want to do that.

What are some opinions on this topic? Should I keep the stock exhaust (I don't have enough money for a full exhaust upgrade)? If anyone does suggest getting an after-market slip on exhaust which brand or model would be best for my bike (in terms of performance and best overall value)?

Thanks for your feedback.

Uhhhh......You wont gain or lose a whole lot when getting a slip-on, so I would not worry about it. Most slip-ons are for looks, noise but also to reduce a bit of weight on the bike. If you do get an exhaust and worried about the HP loss then get a PCI and do a custom map for you bike that will fine tune the bike to your specs.

Bush pretty much said it all, it's mostly for looks and sound with minimal gain in real hp.

as much as I love the sound, I prefer stock as to not draw any police attention for unneccesary reason.
